During the high temperatures in the kiln, the real florals burn away leaving only a hollow fossilized shell with imprinted spikes and leaves. This is why these porcelain jewelry pieces are weightless. After the first firing the porcelain plants are glazed and decorated with colored glass and fired in the kiln again.
