FARPHORIA creates one-of-a-kind porcelain jewellery from real flowers, leaves, berries, seeds and other natural forms collected in London and elsewhere during travels around the world. Each piece captures a fleeting moment in nature and transforms it into a precious wearable memory.

How Real Flowers Become Porcelain Jewellery

I collect real plants and flowers and dip them into liquid porcelain before firing them in the kiln at temperatures of up to 1240°C. During firing, the organic material burns away completely, leaving behind a beautiful hollow porcelain shell.

The original flower is no longer physically present yet every vein, petal, thorn and natural irregularity remains imprinted in porcelain. Something that would otherwise fade and disappear is transformed into a permanent object: part botanical fossil, part miniature natural sculpture and part piece of jewellery.

Nature Makes Every Piece Unique

No moulds or mass-production methods are used. Nature provides the original form, while the artist’s hand guides its transformation through dipping, refining, glazing and firing.

Because no two flowers or leaves are identical, every FARPHORIA piece is genuinely one of a kind. Natural irregularities are not imperfections; they are an essential part of the work and evidence of the living form from which the jewellery was created.

Jewellery as Memory

FARPHORIA’s porcelain jewellery explores transience, memory, emotion and the passage of time. Like photographs, collected objects and keepsakes, each piece represents an attempt to hold on to a place, a person or a particular moment.

The flower disappears in the kiln but its physical memory remains. This tension between presence and absence lies at the heart of FARPHORIA: fleeting nature transformed into timeless wearable poetry.

Every piece is individually handmade in Xenia Busalova’s London studio through a slow, highly skilled process. Porcelain materials are carefully reclaimed and reused wherever technically possible helping to minimise studio waste practically to zero.
